Recitalist in Rosenblatt Recital
Wigmore Hall
“The 2015/16 season began with rising African-American tenor Russell Thomas in an eclectic repertoire that ranged from Beethoven to Barber. I first heard Thomas as Lazarus in the English National Opera production of John Adams’s oratorio The Gospel According to the Other Mary. I was impressed by the rich tenor voice with a baritonal warmth in the lower register. He can also rise to the ringing top notes of the tenor range, as was clear from his delivery at Wigmore Hall of salon songs by Verdi, L’esule and Stornello.”
